NICHE-Leeds joins the International Network of Living Labs in Ageing and Long-Term Care

Date

On 26th October we visited the University of Maastricht for the launch of the International Network of Living Labs in Ageing and Long-Term Care. From NICHE-Leeds, Professor Karen Spilsbury, Professor Carl Thompson, Dr Reena Devi, Dr Kirsty Haunch, Iria Cunha joined colleagues from Universities of Maastricht, Halle-Wittenberg, Cologne, and Graz. At the launch a declaration around the work which will promote quality for people living and working in long term care environments was signed.

The declaration commits to:

  • Organising and taking turns in hosting a yearly research seminar where early-stage researchers have the opportunity to present their work to colleagues working in similar contexts, and scientific staff can explore possible research collaborations between the partnerships.
  • Organising regular exchange visits – both digital and in-real-life – to give the key stakeholders like directors and managers, long-term care staff, client representatives, linking pins, teaching and scientific staff the opportunity to exchange experiences with their international peers.
  • Jointly contribute to the further development of the Limburg Living Lab model.
  • Welcome new twin Living Labs that adopt the Limburg Living Lab as a member of this international network in the future.

We are looking forward to hosting the second international network meeting in Leeds next year.
